Travel Links

The Isle of Wight is perceived as being remote but in fact we're very well connected. Access from Europe, London, the rest of the South East and UK is fast and easy via air, road, rail and sea links.

The cross-Solent ferry market is one of the biggest and intensive in the UK. There are 3 vehicle routes from the mainland to the Island, from Portsmouth to Fishbourne (IOW), Lymington to Yarmouth (IOW) using Wightlink, and from Southampton to East Cowes (IOW) using Red Funnel. Additionally, there are dedicated fast passenger crossings using hovercraft and catamarans from Portsmouth to Ryde (IOW) - using Wightlink, from Southsea to Ryde (IOW) using Hovertravel, and from Southampton to Cowes (IOW) using Red Funnel.

Details of all these services are available from the links on this page.

Please call us if you have any problems or if you would like us to recommend or organise your crossing. Our office is shown on the map

For travel from Europe or further afield, Southampton International Airport is the business airport on the Island's doorstep. However, both of London's main airports (Gatwick & Heathrow) are within 1.5 hours of the ferry ports.
