Newport, UK --19 March 2007-
RF Engines Limited (RFEL), the supplier of high performance
FPGA-based design solutions, reports that it is on a major
growth phase for 2007. The company, based on the Isle of
Wight, UK is looking to expand its technical team in the
VHDL and system design areas, by around 25% during the
current year.
"Over the recent years, we have established a strong
reputation for our design capabilities in the complex FPGA
signal processing domain, and our strategy of incorporating
these techniques into providing complete product solutions
for our customers is driving the growth," explained John
Summers, RFEL's CEO. "Also there is no doubt that recent
awards, such as winning the 2006 European Electronics
Elektra Awards, on the back of winning the Start up of the
year in 2003 and finalist in the 2005 R&D category,
have also added to the impetus."
The company has also recently won several new contracts
in the defence EW (electronic warfare), government
services, and wireless/satcoms areas and there are strong
prospects for significant additional business.
"Basically, RFEL was founded to exploit the signal
processing capabilities of FPGA's and even then at start-up
in 2000, we had already developed, patented and actually
implemented several designs - which was maybe a little
unusual around 2000 when a lot of other companies were
kicking off with lots of promises but not much to back it
up," he added.
"We've also had the benefit of being able to tap into a
pool of really strong engineering talent here on the Isle
of Wight, that historically came from the advanced radar
design work and other defence-related work that has been
carried out on the Island for a generation, as well as a
cluster of wireless and satcoms design talent. Obviously
one of the other major attractions is the Island itself, so
it is pretty easy to strike a sensible work/life
balance."
RF Engines specialise in high performance signal
processing on FPGA, and the company's products include IP
cores, complex system cores, and complete sub-system and
finished products that incorporate these technologies. The
company's customers are the major players in the defence,
government services, wireless communications, and
specialist test instrumentation markets.
